1. Purpose and Scope
This Code of Conduct sets the professional and legal standards for all users of the Taylaay peer-to-peer car sharing platform. It applies to all participants globally, including those in the Caribbean and international regions, who act as either Hosts (vehicle owners) or Guests (vehicle renters). By using the platform, users agree to uphold the principles and responsibilities described herein.
Core Principles
Legality & Compliance:
- All users must comply with the local, national, and international laws applicable in their jurisdiction and that of the trip location, including traffic, insurance, and vehicle safety regulations.
Integrity & Honesty:
- Users must provide accurate, truthful information on their profile, during the booking process, and in all communications. Fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive conduct will result in immediate removal from the platform.
Respect & Safety:
- Users must treat each other, the vehicles, and the platform’s staff with respect. Any form of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or unsafe behavior is strictly prohibited.
Accountability & Cooperation:
- Hosts and Guests must respond promptly to each other’s inquiries, resolve issues in good faith, and report any misconduct or incidents to the platform.
Host Responsibilities
- Vehicle Condition & Legality:
- All listed vehicles must be roadworthy, registered, insured (as required by local law), and have valid inspections or certifications.
- Hosts must disclose any vehicle limitations, mechanical issues, or legal restrictions (e.g., no inter-island travel).
- Cleanliness & Safety:
- Vehicles must be clean, hygienic, and free of hazardous items or contraband.
- Hosts must ensure the vehicle is equipped with necessary safety items (e.g., spare tire, tools, safety triangles where legally required).
- Accurate Listings:
- Vehicle descriptions, photos, and availability must be accurate. Any changes must be updated immediately.
- Misrepresentation may result in penalties or removal.
- Timely Handover & Return:
- Hosts must be punctual and professional during vehicle handoff and inspection.
- Any late arrival or last-minute cancellations should be minimized and communicated in advance.
Guest Responsibilities
- Driver Eligibility:
- Guests must hold a valid driver’s license recognized in the country of rental.
- All drivers must be approved by the platform. No unregistered third-party driving is permitted.
- Vehicle Use & Return:
- Guests must operate the vehicle safely, lawfully, and responsibly.
- Vehicles must be returned on time, in the condition they were received, with the agreed-upon fuel level and cleanliness.
- Incident Reporting:
- All accidents, damage, theft, or legal violations must be reported immediately to both the platform and local authorities, as applicable.
Prohibited Activities:
- Guests must not:
- Smoke or transport pets in the vehicle unless explicitly permitted by the Host.
- Use the vehicle for off-roading, racing, or commercial purposes (e.g., rideshare/delivery) without prior consent.
- Exceed mileage limits or take the vehicle outside of approved regions or countries.
Cross-Border & Regional Provisions
- Caribbean Travel:
- Inter-island travel with vehicles is prohibited unless explicitly allowed by the Host and permitted by local law.
- Guests must ensure compliance with customs and port authority regulations when traveling between islands.
- International Rentals:
- Guests must verify that their license and insurance are valid in the jurisdiction of use.
- Hosts must disclose any limitations on international use of the vehicle.
- Currency, Tax, and Insurance Compliance:
- All payments must be processed through the platform to ensure proper taxation and fee application.
- Hosts and Guests are responsible for understanding and complying with local tax obligations.
Enforcement and Violations
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:
- Account warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans
- Cancellation of current or future bookings
- Fines, penalties, or reimbursement of damages
- Referral to law enforcement in cases of fraud, theft, or serious misconduct
